The International Cycling Safety Conference (ICSC) is a forum for researchers and experts in the field of cycling safety to exchange their knowledge and bring up new research topics or safety solutions.

The conference began as a Dutch initiative of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water management, TNO, Fietsberaad (Dutch center of expertise on bicycle policy), SWOV Institut for Road Safety Research and Delft University of Technology.

The Conferences are organised in a way to facilitate the interaction between the participants. The yearly ICS conferences offer a premium forum to share scientific results and to favor networking inside the ICS community.

All conference papers are publicly available at the conference web-sites. All papers submitted for the conference will be peer-reviewed by experts in the field. Selected scientific papers from the conference are often published in a special issue of a scientific journal.

The 7th annual International Cycling Safety Conference will be held in Barcelona.

Barcelona is committed to a model of safe, sustainable, equitable and efficient mobility that favours a more central role for non-polluting forms of transport. This includes increasing the use of bicycles as a regular means of urban transport.

The City Council wants to encourage cycling in the city. This envisages expanding and improving cycling infrastructures in Catalonia's capital, by adopting measures that will ensure safer travel and by taking action to minimise conflicts with other road users, whether they be pedestrians or other wheeled vehicles.

2018 Conference themes are:

Cycling towards the future

Cycling city of the future

Cycling innovations

Cycling safety and leisure

Cycling and automated vehicles

The conference will take place in Barcelona City Center
